From the writings of Teresa of Avila:

"Oh my Lord! How true it is that whoever works for you is paid in troubles! And what a precious price to those who love you if we understand its value."

"There is no such thing as bad weather. All weather is good because it is God's."

"There is more value in a little study of humility and in a single act of it than in all the knowledge in the world."

"We need no wings to go in search of Him, but have only to look upon Him present within us"

"Let nothing trouble you, let nothing make you afraid. All things pass away. God never changes. Patience obtains everything. God alone is enough."

Chaplet of St. Teresa of Avila
    (based on Lectionary Lessons)

Cross:  We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. - Romans 8:22-27

Invitatory:  O God, who by your Holy Spirit moved Teresa of Avila to manifest to your Church the way of perfection: Grant us, we pray, to be nourished by her excellent teaching, and enkindle within us a keen and unquenchable longing for true holiness; through Jesus Christ, the joy of loving hearts, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.

Cruciform:   O LORD, you have searched me and known me.

Week 1  You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away.
Week 2  You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
Week 3  Even before a word is on my tongue, O LORD, you know it completely.
Week 4  You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
Week 5  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.
Week 6  Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence
Week 7  If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.
                                                     --Psalm 139:1-8

Exit Invitatory:  Almighty God, who, when the hearts of your people have grown cold, send your Spirit to relight the flame of your love in their hearts, and raise up faithful ministers to recall your people to their former devotion and service: Mercifully grant that we, following the teaching and example of Teresa of Avila and others, may be filled with your Holy Spirit, may be aflame with zeal for your glory and love for your goodness and hunger for your love, and that our feet may be set upon the path that leads to true holiness; the which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever.

    Final Cross:
    Matthew 5:13-16
‘You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. ‘You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

This Anglican Prayer Chaplet in honor of St. Teresa of Avila is made with a silver toned Pewter Crucifix and Cameo Agate beads, which remind me of the Carmelite Nuns' habits.  A pewter dove and book, traditional symbols for St. Teresa, are attached to the cross.  A black glass heart is placed between the Invitatory and Cruciform beads, symbolizing God's love.  The Chaplet is accented with matching black and silver rounds and black seed beads.
