    Cross:  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, -- Ephesians 1:17-19

    Invitatory:  Saint Lucy, your beautiful name signifies light. By the light of faith which God bestowed upon you, increase and preserve this light in my soul so that I may avoid evil, be zealous in the performance of good works, and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and the darkness of evil and of sin. Amen.

    Cruciform:  The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.                      -- Psalm 19:7a

    Week 1:  The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
    Week 2:  The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart.
    Week 3:  The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
    Week 4:  The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.
    Week 5:  The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
    Week 6:  They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
    Week 7:  They are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.                      -- Psalm 19:7b-10

    Final Cross:   Saint Lucy, you did not hide your light under a basket, but let it shine for the whole world, for all the centuries to see. We may not suffer torture in our lives the way you did, but we are still called to let the light of our Christianity illumine our daily lives. Please help us to have the courage to bring our Christianity into our work, our recreation, our relationships, our conversation -- every corner of our day. Amen

    This Prayer Chaplet in honor of St. Lucy of Syracuse (or Santa Lucia) is made with a simple beautiful ornate Crucifix, and white glass beads, separated by silver rounds and red crystals. White and red are the traditional colors of Santa Lucia's dress during the Scandanavian Festival of Lights.  A crown and a candle are attached to the cross, symbols of St. Lucy.    A red glass heart is placed between the Invitatory Bead and the Cruciform bead, signifying God's love.
