  • Chaplet of George
    (based on Orthodox Prayers)

    Cross:   You were bound for good deeds, O martyr of Christ: George; by faith you conquered the torturerıs godlessness. You were offered as a sacrifice pleasing to God; thus you received the crown of victory. Through your intercessions, forgiveness of sins is granted to all. - Troparion in tone 4

    Invitatory:   Almighty God, who gave to your servant George boldness to confess the Name of our Savior Jesus Christ before the rulers of this world, and courage to die for this faith: Grant that we may always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us, and to suffer gladly for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

    Cruciform:  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. - Psalm 19:14

    Week 1  The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple;
    Week 2  the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eyes;
    Week 3  the fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
    Week 4  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb.
    Week 5  Moreover by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
    Week 6  But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults.
    Week 7  Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.                                        -- Psalm 19:7-13

    Exit Invitatory:   "O Great Among the Saints and Glorious Martyr George, since you are a deliverer of captives and a defender of the poor, a doctor for the sick and a noble attendant to kings: intercede with Christ God, that He may save our souls." - Troparion (Fourth Tone)

    Final Cross:   God raised you as his own gardener, O George, for you have gathered for yourself the sheaves of virtue. Having sown in tears, you now reap with joy; you shed your blood in combat and won Christ as your crown. Through your intercessions, forgiveness of sins is granted to all. --Kontakion in tone 4
