Let us begin....
- When you click on one of the windows at the bottom of this page, you will be taken to a larger picture of the window and a scripture on which the window is based.
- Begin in silence, with a prayer that the Holy Spirit will let you hear God's word to you. Pray that you will hear with God's ears.
- Lectio: Read the passage slowly. Re-read slowly, pausing at any word of phrase, which catches your attention. If a single phrase draws you, stay with it.
- Meditation: Return to the window. There are a number of ways to meditate on it: imagine that you are an onlooker--what are you seeing, hearing, smelling? The lectio systems holds that God can help us make connections to the Holy Word through our imaginations--so imagine away! Imagine that you are one of the characters in the window. Or have a conversation with one of the characters in the window. Look for symbols in the window. Or, if a single word or phrase seems to draw you, you may want to repeat that word or phrase over and over again, until it sinks into your mind a memory. Ask yourself: what is this passage telling me?
- Prayer: Your response to God. Listen for God's response to you.
- Contemplation: Rest in God. Soak up the divine presence in the same way you soak up the rays of the sun on the beach.
- Action: What am I supposed to do with this? (Note: sometimes the answer is "Wait," or "Be still.")
